Focus Topic Areas:
- All populations
eligible for WIA or other workforce development programs and
services
- Youth initiatives/programs, adults, dislocated
workers, incumbent workers, unemployed & underemployed
- Retention, retraining of employees
- Underserved populations and special needs
(disabilities, institutionalized, special programs, TANF, etc.)
- Service providers
- Technology and management information systems,
etc.
- Rapid response programs
- Training programs, potential employee assessment
processes, etc.
- Customer services, friendly system, etc.
- Customer satisfaction surveys, meeting customer
requirements
- Benchmarking, best practices for programs
and services
- One-stops delivery system, seamless system,
etc.
- Infrastructure issues (one-stops,
equipment, facilities, training)
Suggested Tasks:
- Review Council Study Group Reports for
specific recommendations for this committee.
- Charter sub-groups to address key issues
or identify improvement needs, etc.
- Ensure an effective and customer focused
one-stop system is in place in West Virginia.
- Identify all populations served by workforce
development to make sure appropriate and effective programs
and services by creating models that meet the needs of employers
and potential workers.
- Make recommendations for the overall one-stop
infrastructure.
- Charter a Youth Assembly to assist create
a youth development system and provide recommendations to the
Council on youth issues.
- Encourage alignment of WIA programs and
services to create a seamless learning pipeline.
- Ensure the appropriate technology is leveraged
to advance the programs and services.
- Ensure an effective outreach/recruitment
systems are in place for all populations (e.g., youth, adults)
to have the opportunity to access an education and career path
that leads to a productive future.
- Develop targeted strategies that ensure
opportunities for career development and advancement across
all populations.
- Address support services issues that create
barriers or challenges to accessing training opportunities and
ultimately engagement in productive work.
- Maintain effective consistent dialogue with
all WIA customers through focus groups, work group meetings
and surveys.
- Ensure an adequate number of quality service
providers exist.
