"Beneficial Revitalization of Environmental
Assets for Tourism and Hospitality" (B.R.E.A.T.H.)
Region IV (Mid-Ohio Valley Workforce Investment
Board ($80,000) - The project will serve 50 WIA eligible youth (25
from both Ritchie and Clay counties) in a pilot program that encourages
youth to consider careers that support the Mid-Ohio Valley's efforts
to become a tourism destination. Through the collaboration and partnership
of ten local and state agencies, this program will provide area youth
with educational experiences, on-the-job training, transportation,
stipends and post-secondary scholarships that support their continued
interest in the tourism industry.

Youth & Growth Industries Awareness
Region VII Workforce Investment Board ($70,000)
- This grant will be used to introduce and train youth in growth industries
that are located in the eastern panhandle region. Region VII will
be able to offer a more comprehensive summer youth program, increase
youth's knowledge of targeted demand occupations in the region, provide
increased work readiness training and linking older youth with on-the-job
training in five of West Virginia's targeted industries:
- Business Services, Destination Tourism,
Metal Working and Machinery,
- Value-Added Wood Products, and Warehousing
and Distribution.
